Uteco booth at the CMM Show

Chicago, IL – With the largest display ever for a North American trade show, Uteco Converting S.p.A. is celebrating its 20th year engineering and manufacturing converting equipment. The state-of-the-art machinery developed by Uteco engineering has been proven to be a top value in its category and has bolstered the Italian Company to becoming a worldwide leader in its field.

The CMM display showcased Uteco expanding reach into not only flexo, but highlighted its research in the gravure arena as well as coating and laminating.

On the show floor visitors could see the CI section of the “Emerald” 10-color gearless flexo press, equipped with automatic wash-up. The “Emerald” features Uteco patented “synchro-deck” drive system for the CI section and plate cylinders. Another feature of this press is the patented horizontal slide system for the automatic locking and unlocking of plate and anilox mandrels.

Also featured was the “Mistral” laminator equipped with interchangeable gravure and/or solventless trolleys and shaftless unwinders and rewinder. The printing unit of Uteco gravure “Q-Press” drew a lot of attention and interest. Featuring “sleeve-based” technology for gravure printing, automatic positioning of the doctor blades, and operator friendly control panel with color display, this press displays Uteco’s innovative approach to the gravure market.

Uteco initial investment has paid for itself with the amount of high-quality leads received during the show. A steady stream of CMM Intl. attendees made their way through the Uteco booth. The show brought more than 300 visitors who were interested in learning more about Uteco Converting and its equipment. The success achieved through the CMM show confirmed the massive sales trend which began in the last quarter of the year 2004, and was confirmed by the balance sheet prospective and a growing cash-flow for the first quarter of the current year.

Two 8-color “Onyx” presses were sold during the first two days of the show. One to print on film and one to print on paper. Both machines will be delivered and installed before the end of the year. On Tuesday evening a cocktail reception was hosted at Riva’s on Navy Pier. More than 80 customers had a chance to discuss their needs and network with Uteco engineers and upper management.

The celebration for the 20th Anniversary of the Company will culminate during the Converflex 06 Show (Milan – Italia). On that occasion an Open House will be held at Uteco premises in Verona, for the presentation of the new High Productivity flexo press, the Diamond HP 809 and Diamond HP 109.
